Masjid Al-shajarah

Masjid al-Shajarah stands aligned with the Mosque of Jinn, where Prophet Muhammad (SAW) held a meeting with a delegation of jinn. The Prophet engaged with the jinn on various occasions, reciting verses from the Quran to communicate with them. In a notable incident, he accompanied Abdullah ibn Mas’ud near Hacûn, drawing a line on the ground and instructing Abdullah not to cross it. Prophet Muhammad then recited Quranic verses to the jinn beyond that line.

Abdullah ibn Mas’ud narrates the incident, explaining that the jinn asked the Prophet about witnesses to his prophethood. Prophet Muhammad pointed to a nearby gum arabic tree and proposed, “If this tree bears witness, will you believe?” The jinn agreed, and in response, Prophet Muhammad summoned the tree. Remarkably, the tree came, dragging its branches and roots. Prophet Muhammad then asked, “Will you bear witness that I am the Messenger of Allah?” The tree affirmed, “I bear witness that you are the Messenger of Allah.“

A mosque was subsequently erected at the precise location of this miraculous event, known as the Mosque of Jinn. This mosque serves as a testament to the truth of Prophet Muhammad’s prophethood, exemplifying his extraordinary interactions with different beings and his pivotal role in conveying the message of the Quran, even to the jinn.
