Jabal Al-rahmah And Masjid Al-sakhrah

Jabal al-Rahmah, situated on the northern side of the Arafat Plain, is commonly known as the “Mount of Arafat” and is constructed with granite stones. This hill holds special significance as the blessed location where Adam (AS) and Eve reunited after completing the construction of the Kaaba in the hundredth year following Adam’s descent to Earth. On the Day of Arafat, Prophet Muhammad (SAW) performed the Dhuhr (midday) and Asr (afternoon) prayers at Masjid al-Nimrah. He then proceeded to the area near the foot of Jabal al-Rahmah, where Masjid al-Sahrat is located, to perform the wukuf (standing) of Arafat.

Masjid al-Sahrat, situated to the right when ascending Jabal al-Rahmah, is enclosed by a half-meter-high wall, with dimensions of approximately 13 meters in length and 8 meters in width, facing the qibla. It is at this location that Prophet Muhammad (SAW) delivered his farewell sermon (khutbah). According to the hadith “The entirety of Arafat is a place of wukuf” (Sahih Muslim, Hajj, 149), pilgrims have the flexibility to perform the wukuf anywhere within the Arafat area. However, many choose to be present in the same area where Prophet Muhammad performed the wukuf, particularly on the 70-meter high Jabal al-Rahmah, situated between the Neba and Nubay’a peaks atop the Nabit Hill in the northeast of the Arafat Valley. As a result, this area has become densely populated by pilgrims, with various social facilities established to serve their needs concentrated in this vicinity.
